On October 12, we celebrated our One Hundredth
anniversary in ministry at Pineora Church. Many people worked very
hard to help that be a special day. The following week I received a
letter in the mail from Mrs. Nell Veale. Her husband, Rev. David
Lynn served as pastor of Pineora Baptist Church until his death in
1969. With Mrs. Veale’s permission I want to share her kind words
with you:
Dear Friends at Pineora Baptist
Church,
We were so glad to be a part of
the Centennial Celebration of the Pineora
Baptist Church.
The Lynn family was a part of
the church in the mid Sixties. When Rev. David Lynn died in 1969,
you were so supportive. Your love was a part of our lives
for several years prior to that,
and even today I sense that love.
At the service Sunday that love
for each other was evident. It could be seen
and felt. It was so evident that
you love your pastor, and that he loves you. It
was evident that you love the
church. The buildings are so impressive. They
have grown and grown. They have
been beautifully maintained, too.
Beautiful! And the
grounds—blooming plants, shrubs, clean flower bed,
playgrounds with appropriate
fencing. The lunch was delicious and so plentiful.
(Thank you to Warnell and Linda
for setting up chairs for us.)
And it is evident that love
flows out to the world. The missions told about in
the slide show showed that.
The slide show—what a neat way
to inform everyone of the history. Someone spent a lot of time and
effort on it, too.
The people are the church and I
so enjoyed seeing some of the same families
that were there forty years
ago. What a legacy you are leaving for your
children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, etc. for all time! Make another
slide show to show such
families. I missed so many of the people and families
who are no longer there.
Am enclosing a check as an
expression of our love for and admiration of you. Use it as you
see fit.
And again, thank you for
inviting us.
In Him,
Carl & Nell (Lynn) Veale
What a great encouragement! I wanted to share
this letter with you because it is easy, as close as we are to
things day by day, to miss what someone visiting from afar can see.
This letter meant so much to me. I hope it blesses you, too.
In Christ,
Brother Bobby

Men's Memo AND
CHURCH NEWS

Dear church family,
The deadline for the Christmas Child shoe box is coming soon. So
please take time to put together a shoe box that will change a
child's life and will most of all show them the love of Christ.
Deadline is Sunday the 16th. Look for information in the bulletin.
The busy season is approaching quickly, Halloween, Thanksgiving,
Christmas. Lets make prayer a big part of the season, praying for
our church, its members, Sunday school classes, Worship services and
our community. Though this is a time to give thanks for all that God
has given us and to celebrate Christ's birth, it is also a time of
great stress for many. So please make time to be in Church to
worship our Lord and to spend time with fellow believers and
friends.
Also look for youth winter fundraiser coming Dec. 6th. Read “Diverse
City Disciples Youth” for more information.
God Bless,
Scott Tharpe

UPDATE…

APPROVED WORKMEN ARE NOT ASHAMED- 2 TIMOTHY 2:15
We will be having
our monthly Parent/Awards night presentation on Wednesday, November
5th at 6:30 PM. Many clubbers will be receiving awards, including
the prestigious “Clubber of the Month” award. Please come out and
support them with your presence. This will encourage them to
continue to work hard.
Our August Clubber of the Month was Hannah Butler, and our September
Clubber of the Month was Jadyn Weimer. Congratulations to these two
young ladies for the great examples they are to their fellow
clubbers. We’ll find out who the October Clubber of the Month is
during the awards night on November 5th.
As always, we have a wonderful opportunity to serve supper to the
adults and students on Wednesday nights. Any donation of food,
supplies, or monetary support is always appreciated. Kitchen help is
always appreciated as well!
REMINDER: We will not have AWANA on Wednesday, November 26 due to
Thanksgiving. Please take this time to give thanks to God for His
generous blessings and mercy towards us, and enjoy family time!
